FRUIT AND VEGETABLECARVING – TRAINING CLASS
at Lourdes Matha Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology

Training class on Fruit and Vegetable Carving was started on the 23rd of June 2017 in the Advanced Food Production Lab, for the Second Semester students by Mr.Jeba Mohan David, Asst. Professor and Food Production Division In charge. Classes will be conducted on weekly basis till the end of the semester.

International Day of Yoga
Awareness Programme

The International Day of Yoga was celebrated at Lourdes Matha Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology on 21st June, 2017 to imbibe the value of discipline, peace and harmony. It was a great event and each and every student together with our entire staff enjoyed this event to the fullest.
Ms. Bhavana, Ms Kalyani and Mr. Vinod, the yoga teacher from The Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Dhanwantari Ashram, Neyyar Dam guided the students with different ASANAS and explained their importance in our daily life.

Awareness on Blood Donation &
Blood Donation Camp

KERALA STATE BLOOD TRANSFUSION COUNCIL

 

The slogan for the WORLD BLOOD DONOR’S DAY 2017 campaign is: Give blood. Give now. Give often”. Blood is an important resource, both for planned treatments and urgent interventions. It can help patients suffering from life-threatening conditions live longer and with a higher quality of life, and supports complex medical and surgical procedures.

We observed WORLD BLOOD DONOR’S DAY with an “Awareness On Blood Donation on the 14th of June 2017 and Blood Donation Camp’ on the 16th of June 2017 at our campus. The Programme was Chaired by Mr.Ranjith Pillai, Principal and Inagurated by Dr. Shobha Mathew, Family Planning Association of India. The awareness programme was led by Mr. Baby Prabhakar, Consultant, Family Planning Association of India. The main objective of this programs was to make youth aware of the significance of donating blood without fear. Mr. Baby Prabhakar interacted with the students stating that- “it is essential to maintain an effective health system. A safe access to blood and blood products in sufficient quantity is essential to us. Every two seconds someone in our country needs blood. Approximately 36,000 units of red blood cells are needed every day. A single car accident victim may require as many as 100 pints of blood”. Short Film and Power Point Presentation enriched the session. About 100 student audience participated actively. Posters from the Kerala State Blood Transfusion Council were displayed through out the campus. Fourty Six Students registered and donated blood, the blood donors were given refreshments and certificate from the Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan. Social Activity Committee Convener, members of the committee, teaching, non-teaching staffs, student co-ordinators and blood donation camp volunteers participated actively for the execution programme.

Observance of
World Environment Day
at
Lourdes Matha Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology

 

World Environment Day is the United Nation’s principal vehicle for encouraging worldwide awareness and action for the protection of our environment. The Social Activity Committee of the Lourdes Matha Institute Of Hotel Management And Catering Technology observed observed the WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY on the 5th of June 2017 at 12.00 noon by planting the saplings in association with the Kootoor Geethanthali Grandha Sala.

It was a informal gathering at the planting site, started with comparing by Kajal Elsa Manoj (S2) and welcome speech by Kalyani.S.Nair (S2). Mr.B Surendren, Retd. Head master, Paruthipalli Govt High School and Member of Sasthra Sahithya Parishat, gave an introduction to the ceremony. It was followed by planting the saplings, by Mr. Philip John Secretary, Lourdes Matha Catholic Educational Society, Mr. Ranjith Pillai, Principal, Ambrosis Ninan, Estate Manger and Dr. Suni Mary Varghese Faculty and Member of the Social Activity Committee and students assisted by student organisers of the function Mr.Bikku Scariaraj (S8), Mr.Jibin James (S8) and Mr.Jerin John Thomas (S8). The students took an OATH to protect the environment and led by Mr.Ajeesh. A (S8). A Song on Environment was sung by Mr. Varghese Thomas (S2) and vote of thanks by Melvin Elias (S8). Faculty members of the institute Mr. Sreekanth Vice Principal, Mr. Jeba Mohan David Convener of Social Activity Committee, Mr. Ajith Kumar P S, Mr. Abhilash Soman, Mr. Abhilas Sudhakar, Mr. Lju Sankar, and Mr. Jijo Thomas participated actively for the execution of the programme.
